8 simple ways you can help the environment

It’s hard to know where to start sometimes, it feels like everything we use in our lives hurts the environment in some way. These are 8 easy ways to start now, even if you can only do one it is worth doing! Being environmentally conscious should be for everyone.

  1. Reusable water bottle. Literally the easiest thing! No excuses guys, enough with the plastic. According to the EPA: ‘Each week, Americans buy enough plastic water bottles to circle the earth five times! Carrying your own bottle cuts waste and is much cheaper. Typically, bottled water costs 2000 times more than tap water, is actually less safe to drink, and loses taste tests in competition with tap water." Enough said.

  2. Recycle. An obvious one, but it is clear to me that many people either don’t understand or just don’t bother. But it’s our job to learn! One way to help is to purchase products with less packaging and recyclable materials, this is why Cozy Club doesn’t use tags or extra packaging, and we reuse the materials sent by manufacturers to cut down on extra waste.

  3. Ditch meat once a week. Having a meatless day just once a week can help the planet, and save you money. There’s no need to go full vegetarian to make a difference. About 24 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions are from agriculture or the cultivation of crops and livestock. (Source EPA).

  4. Ditch dairy once a week. The dairy industry is also destructive to the environment . Replacing dairy products with more sustainable options, like Oat Milk are also great options. Want to be vegan but love cheese? Cool, just ditch everything but cheese, it can still make an impact!

  5. Leave your car at home. This is not possible for everyone, but we have so many options now for many. Carpool, bike, public transport, or walk if you can! Leaving your car at home just two days a week can reduce your greenhouse gas emissions by an average of 2 tons per year. (Source EPA)

  6. Buy less. It’s easy to be wasteful with everything so accessible to us. So try limited buying, or just two days a week without buying anything new. Here are some ways to shop smarter online!

  7. Bring your own. Reusable options aren’t just for water bottles! Bring your own coffee cups and straws, produce bags and grocery bags, even containers and utensils. You’ll feel good, save resources, and sometimes save money.

  8. Use non-toxic cleaning products. There are so many great alternatives to clean your home that aren’t pollutants, and that won’t hurt the environment and your health. Check out this guide to healthy cleaning, and review the products you like.
