Cozy organizational home goods

While being in self isolation at home, I have found myself really focusing on making my space feel cozy and organized. I live in a rental apartment with no yard and what I can change about my place is limited, so I turned to home goods and plants. When stay at home orders first went into place, I had a hard time having the motivation to keep up with normal things like organizing, but having a home that was messy also made me less able to focus on other tasks or even relaxing. Having a nice clean space always makes me feel comforted, and can give a sense of purpose when you feel like you aren’t doing much with your time.

I have put probably too much time into looking at home goods online, and I feel like I have found some pretty good stuff to add something cozy to your home. Shopping may not be the solution, but organizing that one bookcase or shelf that is always messy can feel really rewarding. These are all just brands I truly love and have shopped with, so I hope you can find some new favorites here.

Areaware - A lot of my favorite decor comes from Areaware. Even just scrolling through their site is fun and all of their products feel like art. Their stacking planters by Chen Chen and Kai Williams, in white have been a favorite of mine for years, so I was super excited when they came out with a terracotta version this year. You can find these elsewhere as well but Areaware has other great items like table tile coasters and lots of beautiful candles.

Get Open Spaces - This new brand is one of my favorite finds of 2020. Everything is designed perfectly and simply to help organize your whole home. The colors are lovely and I can’t wait to see what they make next. My favorite is their dark green baskets, bins, and shelves. As well as their shelf risers to add more storage to your cabinets or closets.

West Elm x Good Thing - Although it is through a larger brand, they have some really great smaller brands available exclusively in their shop. One of my favorite is Good Thing. All of their items are amazing but my favorites are their trays and stool. I use my stool as extra space for decoration next to my couch, and the tray to organize items on my desk and shelves.

Hay - One of my favorite home goods brands, their items are all so simple yet perfectly designed and high quality. My favorite is their stacking trays, they come in a variety of colors and I use mine to organize my coffee table.

Closed Mondays - These colorful baskets and trays all made out of rope and thread are super cute, I use them for plants and for organizing cute things on my desk. Best of all they make everything themselves with their team of three in Brooklyn.

Yamazaki Home - They have great items to organize tough spaces, like that narrow area next to your fridge or toilet. With a lot of white and light wood, their products feel very clean and modern. My favorite are their fruit basket, utensil stand, and under shelf rack.

Schoolhouse - this home goods store based in Portland, OR has these super cool everyday clips that are perfect for hanging extra cards or calendars in your workspace or home office.

NewMade LA. Has lots of great mid-century based designs. Everything is made in Los Angeles and they strive to make sure good design is affordable and accessible to everyone, which is amazing in a market full of over priced items.

Food52. One of my favorites for kitchen and bathroom items. They have so many amazing products and environmentally friendly options. They have their own in the shop called Five Two, as well as products from many other great design brands. Some of my favorites are their colorful silicone lids and trivets. As well as some really cute napkins holders and important things like dish racks and soap dispensers

All of these brands have amazing products and are full of beautifully designed objects. I enjoy picking a few of my favorite items to splurge on while keeping most of my spending low, especially right now. But even if you can’t buy new things right now, I hope these items might inspire you to do some organizing of your own space with what you have, DIY some new things, or just give you some pretty stuff to look at!
